📄 Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Utilities Head (GM/DGM level) to lead the complete mechanical maintenance, utilities operations, and project functions for a large-scale chemical/polymer manufacturing plant.
This role will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of equipment reliability, utility availability, energy efficiency, and statutory compliance while leading a large multidisciplinary engineering team.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
1. Mechanical Maintenance Leadership
Lead end-to-end maintenance of rotating, static, and package equipment, including pumps, compressors, blowers, gearboxes, vacuum pumps, reactors, valves, and piping systems.
Develop & implement preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
Ensure zero unplanned breakdown through strong RCA, Why-Why analysis, and MTBF/MTTR improvement initiatives.
Manage inventory, spare planning, cost control, and turnaround schedules.
2. Utilities Management
Oversee operations & maintenance of all major plant utility systems:
Heat & Steam
Thermic Fluid Heater (TFH) – coal & oil fired systems
Steam boilers (IBR) – operation, maintenance & statutory compliance
Heat exchangers, condensate systems, deaerators
Cooling & Air Systems
Cooling Towers
Screw & Vapor Compression Chillers
VAM Chillers
Air Compressors
Gas & Water Systems
PSA Nitrogen Plants
RO/DM Plants
Utility water systems
Fuel handling, coal feeding & ash removal (as applicable)
Ensure uninterrupted utility supply across all plant operations.
3. Energy & Cost Optimization
Lead implementation of energy saving, utility load optimization & water conservation projects.
Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements in TFH, boilers, cooling systems, compressors, and utilities.
Evaluate and execute cost-reduction strategies and OPEX improvements.
4. Projects, Erection & Commissioning
Lead mechanical upgrades, utility modification projects, and CAPEX planning.
Review engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for new equipment.
Manage contractors, project schedules, BOQs, contracts, and timelines.
Successfully execute erection & commissioning of new utility equipment and plant expansions.
5. Compliance, Safety & Audits
Ensure strict compliance with IBR, ISO, OHSAS, safety policies, and statutory norms.
Lead internal & external audits, customer audits, and documentation.
Implement LOTO, work permit systems, and HSE standards.
Train team members on safety, maintenance practices, and environmental norms.
6. Team Management
Lead, mentor, and develop engineering & maintenance teams.
Build strong competency in reliability engineering and technical problem-solving.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence.
🎓 Required Qualifications
B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory).
BOE certification preferred (added advantage).
Additional training in TPM, Reliability Engineering, or Energy Management is desirable.

Chemical

Polymer / Polyester
Fibers / Filament / Yarn plants
Strong hands-on expertise in:
✔ TFH (Thermic Fluid Heater) – coal/oil fired
✔ Boilers (IBR), steam systems
✔ Chillers, cooling towers, compressors
✔ PSA N2 plants, RO/DM water treatment
✔ Project execution & commissioning
✔ RCA, MTBF/MTTR improvement, reliability

Currently working as DGM / GM / AGM / HOD – Mechanical / Utilities
Experience handling large manufacturing plants
Proven record of leading teams & managing complex engineering systems
Strong analytical ability with focus on safety, reliability, and cost efficiency
