About the Role

We are hiring a Tech Lead – Backend for a leading technology platform in the Internet/Publishing domain. This role is designed for someone who has mastered backend engineering and is ready to lead systems, scale architectures, mentor engineers, and drive backend excellence for a high-usage consumer product.

You will work on distributed systems, high-performance microservices, scalable cloud infrastructure, and backend components that support millions of users. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and leading teams toward technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect backend systems that can handle massive India-scale traffic.

• Design and evolve microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and internal platforms.

• Lead, mentor, and guide backend engineers; own backend technical decisions.

• Collaborate with Product, Data, and Infrastructure teams for roadmap execution.

• Drive engineering best practices: clean code, architecture standards, automation, and testing.

• Lead discussions around system design, performance optimization, infra decisions.

• Monitor production systems—metrics, logs, uptime, reliability.

• Identify bottlenecks proactively and implement solutions before issues arise.

• Own end-to-end backend delivery with high accountability.

Mandatory Criteria (Strict Screening Requirements)

Candidates must meet all of the following:

Experience & Leadership

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience.

• 1–2 years leading engineers or owning major backend systems.

Technical Expertise

• Strong coding skills in one core backend language: Node.js, Go, Java, or Python (mandatory).

• Deep understanding of:

  • Distributed systems

  • Caching

  • High availability

  • Microservices architecture

• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design.

• Hands-on experience with:

  • AWS / GCP

  • Docker & Kubernetes

  • CI/CD pipelines

  • Performance tuning & scalable architecture

Collaboration & Ownership

• Ability to partner closely with Product, Data, Infra to drive backend roadmap.

• Strong communication and a problem-solving mindset.

Preferred Industry Background

Bonus Skills (Good to Have)

• Experience building or scaling consumer-facing apps with millions of DAUs.

• Knowledge of event-driven architecture, streaming, or real-time systems.

• Exposure to observability tools: Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, OpenTelemetry.

• Experience working in startup environments with fast iteration cycles.
