🎯 Role Overview

As a Senior Backend Engineer – II, you will architect and build scalable backend systems, design fault-tolerant services, and contribute to core engineering excellence. You will work closely with product, design, and data teams to build features that impact millions of users, while also mentoring junior engineers and driving high engineering standards.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

1. Backend Development & Feature Ownership

• Build, enhance, and optimize backend services using TypeScript, Express.js, and Nest.js.

• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices.

• Deliver features at high velocity that directly impact user experience and business KPIs.

2. System Design & Architecture

• Design scalable backend architectures using microservices, DDD, MVC, and event-driven principles.

• Build platforms enabling rapid experimentation and high availability.

• Implement cloud-native, resilient, and observable systems.

3. Database Engineering

• Work with MongoDB (preferred) or MySQL/PostgreSQL/DynamoDB.

• Optimize schemas, queries, indexing, and data models.

• Ensure high reliability through proper replication, backups, and performance tuning.

4. Testing, Quality & CI/CD

• Write automated tests—unit, integration, and end-to-end.

• Maintain strong code quality and enforce engineering standards.

• Work with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable deployments.

5. Production Engineering & Observability

• Manage and monitor production systems.

• Implement metrics, tracing, logging, and fault detection systems.

• Ensure reliability, high availability, and quick incident resolution.

6. Collaboration & Engineering Culture

• Collaborate tightly with product, design, data, and frontend teams.

• Participate in technical discussions, brainstorming, and architectural reviews.

• Lead by example in code reviews, documentation, and mentoring.

✅ Mandatory Skills & Experience (Non-Negotiable)

• 4–6 years of backend engineering experience.

• Minimum 2+ years hands-on with:

  • TypeScript

  • Express.js or Nest.js

• Strong database experience with MongoDB or equivalent RDBMS/NoSQL.

• Expertise in scalable system design, microservices, MVC, event-driven architecture.

• Strong skills in automated testing (integration tests required).

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred).

• Hands-on experience managing production systems and debugging.

• Strong understanding of performance, reliability, observability.

• Experience with AWS (preferred) or Azure/GCP.

• Excellent coding standards—clean code, refactoring, code reviews.

➕ Good-to-Have Skills

• Kubernetes, Docker, containerized deployments.

• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi).

• Familiarity with analytics tools and data pipelines.

• Experience working in high-scale B2C environments (OTT, streaming, media-tech).
