Orbit Global HR Consultants, a leading executive search firm, is hiring a highly experienced Sr. Manager – System Hardware for a semiconductor & embedded engineering client. This is a senior leadership role responsible for hardware architecture, board design, product development, validation, and multi-team coordination across the full hardware lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in advanced hardware board design, signal integrity, EMI/EMC, SoC/FPGA-based architectures, and full product deployment cycles.
🎯 Role Overview
As a Sr. Manager – System Hardware, you will lead end-to-end hardware design activities—from high-level architecture to final deployment. You will manage schematic design, signal integrity analysis, component procurement, validation cycles, debugging, and cross-functional reviews with firmware, mechanical, SI, EMC, and manufacturing teams.
This role requires strong ownership, technical depth, and the ability to manage complex product cycles in embedded/IoT/industrial domains.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
1. Hardware Board Design & System Architecture
Lead architecture, schematic design, and development of complex digital, analog, and power electronic circuits.
Design boards based on SoCs, FPGAs, CPLDs, MPSoC architectures, and high-speed interfaces.
Conduct design reviews, DC drop analysis, and signal integrity evaluations.
2. Signal Integrity, EMI/EMC & High-Speed Design
Ensure compliance with EMI/EMC standards for digital and power electronics.
Perform SI analysis for high-speed circuits and validate board performance under various conditions.
Work closely with SI/EMC teams to refine board layouts and system performance.
3. Board Bring-Up, Debugging & Testing
Lead board bring-up activities, root-cause investigations, component-level debugging, and hardware issue triage.
Collaborate with firmware/software teams to identify, isolate, and resolve hardware-related faults.
Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and RF tools to validate designs.
4. Hardware Validation & Documentation
Prepare comprehensive design documentation, test plans, test procedures, and validation reports.
Select test equipment, define validation strategies, and ensure thorough coverage.
Manage environmental, functional, and stress testing cycles.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
Coordinate with:
PCB layout teams
Mechanical engineering
Signal integrity & EMC experts
Firmware/software teams
Manufacturing & supply chain partners
Ensure accurate BOM creation, PCB readiness, and production feasibility.
6. Supply Chain, Procurement & Manufacturing Support
Oversee sourcing of electronic components, PCBs, connectors, enclosures, and mechanical parts.
Work closely with vendors on pricing models, production volumes, logistics, and manufacturing services.
7. EDA Tools & Technical Competency
Use Cadence Allegro or Altium Designer for schematic and layout reviews (mandatory).
Ensure DFM/DFT compliance in collaboration with manufacturing teams.
✅ Mandatory Skills & Experience (Non-Negotiable)
10–12 years of experience in hardware board design and system hardware engineering.
Strong technical expertise in digital, analog, and power electronics.
Proven experience completing at least two full hardware product development cycles.
Hands-on with SoC/FPGA/CPLD/MPSoC architecture boards.
Deep knowledge of signal integrity, EMI/EMC, and high-speed design.
Strong experience in board bring-up, debugging, and validation workflows.
Proficiency in Cadence Allegro or Altium EDA tools.
Experience in coordinating with manufacturing, supply chain, and cross-functional engineering teams.
Strong skills in documentation, test planning, and technical reporting.
Understanding of pricing models, production logistics, and value engineering.
➕ Good-to-Have Skills
Python/Perl scripting for test automation.
Experience with IoT, embedded systems, or industrial hardware products.
Knowledge of post-silicon validation, BIOS, or device driver fundamentals.
