Role Overview
Orbit Global is hiring a Content Acquisition Manager for a confidential OTT platform focused on regional and dialect-first content markets.
This is a strategic, deal-driven role responsible for rapidly expanding the platform’s acquired content library across multiple regional film industries. You will own the end-to-end acquisition lifecycle—from content scouting and valuation to licensing negotiations, contracting, renewals, and performance analysis.
Client details will be shared directly with shortlisted candidates as per confidentiality guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Content Sourcing & Market Mapping
Proactively scout and evaluate existing content libraries (feature films, web series, TV shows, short films, music).
Conduct catalog gap analysis by genre, format, and dialect using audience demand insights.
Build and maintain a strong database of regional producers, distributors, aggregators, and content owners.
Track upcoming theatrical and digital releases for future acquisition opportunities.
Monitor competitor acquisitions and market pricing to guide acquisition strategy.
On-Ground Activities
Attend regional film markets, festivals, and industry events across Haryana, Rajasthan, UP, Gujarat, and other target markets.
Build relationships with regional film associations, producer guilds, and TV channels.
Scout relevant catalogs from regional YouTube creators and MCNs.
2. Deal Negotiation & Licensing
Lead negotiations for digital streaming rights (territory, duration, exclusivity, windows, holdbacks).
Structure deals across MG, Revenue Share, Hybrid, and Outright Purchase models.
Partner with legal teams to draft, review, and execute licensing agreements.
Secure optimal release windows and exclusivity from competitors.
Track expiring licenses and manage renewals for high-performing content.

3. Relationship Management
Build long-term partnerships with regional producers, studios, distributors, and aggregators.
Maintain strong working relationships with theatrical distributors for post-theatrical rights.
Represent the platform professionally at industry events and trade associations.
4. Financial & Data Analysis
Conduct content valuation using performance, cast, genre, recency, theatrical results, and social buzz.
Manage quarterly and annual content acquisition budgets.
Track content performance post-acquisition and calculate ROI.
Build valuation benchmarks and performance models for future deals.

5. Cross-Functional Coordination
Work with market leads to align acquisitions with audience preferences and cultural fit.
Coordinate with marketing teams for launch planning of marquee acquisitions.
Partner with tech, ops, legal, and finance teams to ensure smooth ingestion, QC, rights clearance, and payments.
Mandatory Criteria (Non-Negotiable)
5+ years experience in content acquisition, licensing, or distribution.
Proven experience with an OTT platform, TV network, film distributor, or major production house.
Demonstrated success closing complex licensing deals.
Hands-on ownership of the entire acquisition lifecycle.
Deep, verifiable expertise in at least two regional film industries:
Haryanvi
Rajasthani
Bhojpuri
Gujarati
Marathi
Strong negotiation skills for digital streaming rights.
Experience managing acquisition budgets and conducting ROI analysis.
Fluency in Hindi & English, plus at least one target dialect.
Ability to ensure dialect authenticity, cultural fit, rights clarity, and technical quality (HD minimum).
Willingness to travel extensively for regional markets and events.
MBA preferred (not mandatory).

P0 (Immediate): Haryanvi, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri
P1 (Launch): Gujarati
P2 (Future Prep): Marathi, Awadhi, Maithili
Content Acquisition Priority
High: Feature Films (theatrical & direct-to-digital)
Medium: Web Series, Short Films, TV Shows
Low: Music & Folk Content
Critical Considerations
Pure dialect content only (no Hindi-dubbed versions).
Family-friendly, culturally aligned storytelling.
Complete rights clearance (music, remake, digital).
Minimum HD quality (4K preferred for films).
