About the Role
As the organization prepares to launch its new digital platform, this role will be instrumental in building a strong, scalable, and commercially viable content IP pipeline. The position sits at the intersection of editorial judgment, commercial negotiation, and IP strategy — ensuring the platform consistently acquires and develops compelling, monetisation-ready content.
This is a high-impact role requiring a balance of creative instinct, strategic thinking, operational discipline, and deal-making capability.
Role Purpose
To build and manage a robust and sustainable pipeline of:
Original IPs
Writers & creators
Syndicated shows
Licensed storytelling formats
Ensuring a continuous flow of high-quality, commercially viable content for the digital platform.
Key Responsibilities
1️⃣ IP & Story Sourcing
Identify and source high-potential story submissions, manuscripts, podcast ideas, and episodic formats.
Evaluate IPs based on narrative strength, audience scalability, genre demand, and monetisation potential.
Build and maintain strong relationships with writers, agents, creators, and production partners.
Track emerging content trends across audio, OTT, publishing, and digital storytelling ecosystems.
2️⃣ Commissioning & Deal Structuring
Lead negotiations for commissioning, licensing, and content acquisition deals.
Structure agreements aligned with platform economics and long-term scalability.
Ensure complete clarity of rights including:
Audio rights
Video rights
Adaptation rights
Exclusivity clauses
Territorial rights
Align contract frameworks with unit economics and revenue models.
3️⃣ Contract & Payout Management
Oversee the end-to-end contracting process from negotiation to execution.
Manage content budgets, payout schedules, and milestone-linked payments.
Track deliverables, timelines, and ensure contractual compliance.
Maintain financial and operational control across commissioned projects.
4️⃣ Pilot & Testing Coordination
Collaborate with production and programming teams to launch pilot content.
Monitor and analyse early performance metrics including:
Engagement rates
Completion rates
Drop-off patterns
Recommend scale-up, optimisation, or discontinuation strategies based on data insights.
5️⃣ IP Scaling & Portfolio Management
Partner with content leadership to expand high-performing IPs into:
Multi-season formats
Franchise extensions
Cross-format adaptations (audio to video, community-led formats, etc.)
Maintain a balanced and commercially viable content slate across genres and audience segments.
Ensure long-term sustainability of the content portfolio.
⚠️ Mandatory Criteria (Non-Negotiable During Screening)
1. Relevant Platform Background
Candidates must have experience in leading audio/content/OTT ecosystems such as:
Kuku FM
Pocket FM
Pratilipi
Storytel
Reel Saga
Dramabox
StoryBox
Story TV
OR possess strong commissioning/content acquisition experience within digital media, OTT, publishing, or radio-led platforms.
2. IP Sourcing & Editorial Judgment
5–8 years of experience in content acquisition, commissioning, or IP development.
Proven ability to evaluate stories based on narrative strength, audience scalability, and monetisation potential.
Established network of writers, creators, agents, or production partners.
3. Commissioning & Rights Expertise
Hands-on experience in deal structuring, licensing, and acquisition negotiations.
Strong understanding of rights frameworks including audio, video, adaptation, exclusivity, and territorial rights.
Exposure to platform-aligned contract structures and unit economics.
4. Contracting & Operational Control
Managed end-to-end contracting processes, budgets, payout schedules, and deliverables.
Ensured compliance, timeline adherence, and financial oversight of commissioned projects.
5. Performance-Led Scaling
Experience working with production/programming teams to launch pilots and assess performance metrics.
Demonstrated success in scaling IPs into multi-season formats or cross-format adaptations.
Ability to manage a balanced and commercially viable content pipeline across genres.
Ideal Candidate Profile
5–8 years of experience in:
Content acquisition
OTT commissioning
Audio storytelling platforms
Publishing or digital IP ecosystems
Strong negotiation and commercial structuring skills.
Sharp editorial instinct with strong narrative judgment.
Experience managing creator ecosystems and complex rights contracts.
Comfortable working in fast-scaling digital content environments.
Data-driven mindset with strong strategic thinking capability.
