About the Role

Orbit Global HR Consultants, one of India’s leading executive search and leadership hiring firms, is conducting a confidential search for a senior Business Development professional for a reputed organization operating in the tunnel, metro, mining, and underground infrastructure domain.

This role is designed for a front-end revenue leader who understands the complex EPC ecosystem, long-cycle infrastructure sales, and techno-commercial project execution. The position carries direct responsibility for order inflow, client acquisition, and strategic account development across large-scale infrastructure projects in India.


Role Objective

The incumbent will be responsible for identifying, developing, bidding, negotiating, and closing high-value infrastructure projects, working closely with EPC contractors, OEM partners, consultants, and government authorities. The role demands a hunter mindset combined with deep technical and commercial understanding of underground infrastructure projects.


Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development & Revenue Ownership

  • Drive end-to-end business development for metro rail, tunnel, mining, and underground infrastructure projects

  • Identify new business opportunities across EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants, and government / PSU clients

  • Develop and manage a strong pipeline of tenders, RFQs, and project leads

  • Own order booking, revenue targets, and business growth metrics

  • Actively pursue strategic and repeat business with key accounts


2. Tendering, Bidding & Techno-Commercial Leadership

  • Lead pre-bid discussions, tender evaluations, BOQ analysis, and specification compliance

  • Coordinate with engineering, estimation, procurement, and finance teams for accurate bid submissions

  • Manage techno-commercial negotiations, pricing strategies, and contract finalization

  • Ensure timely submission of bids in line with tender requirements and compliance standards


3. Client, Consultant & EPC Relationship Management

  • Build and strengthen long-term relationships with:

    • Metro corporations & infrastructure authorities

    • EPC & MEP contractors

    • Design consultants and PMC firms

    • OEM partners and system integrators

  • Represent the organization in client meetings, technical discussions, and project review forums

  • Act as the primary interface during order finalization, execution coordination, and post-order support


4. Project Lifecycle & Post-Order Engagement

  • Support project execution teams during:

    • Design approvals

    • Site coordination

    • Commissioning and handover

  • Manage change orders, variations, and add-on business opportunities

  • Coordinate warranty, DLP, and service-related commercial aspects

  • Ensure timely payment follow-ups and collection discipline


5. Market Intelligence & Strategic Planning

  • Track upcoming metro, tunnel, and mining projects across India

  • Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends, and market dynamics

  • Provide strategic inputs for:

    • Market expansion

    • New product / solution entry

    • Long-term business planning

  • Participate in industry events, seminars, and infrastructure forums


Ideal Candidate Profile

Mandatory Experience

  • 14+ years of experience in Business Development / Sales within:

    • Tunnel & Metro Rail Projects

    • Underground Infrastructure

    • Mining Equipment or Systems

    • Heavy EPC / Capital Equipment industries

  • Strong exposure to:

    • EPC, OEM, and consultant-driven sales environments

    • Tendering, BOQs, specifications, and approvals

    • Long sales cycles and large contract negotiations
