Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Assistant Manager – Purchase (Non-Agri) to manage the sourcing and procurement of packaging materials, consumables, indirect materials, and other non-agricultural inputs. The role is critical in ensuring timely availability, cost efficiency, quality compliance, and smooth production operations within a food manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with production schedules and business goals

• Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable vendors and suppliers

• Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and delivery schedules to optimize costs

• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and warehouse teams to maintain optimal stock

• Ensure uninterrupted supply of materials to avoid production delays

• Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and documentation for audits and compliance

• Track procurement KPIs including cost savings, delivery performance, and supplier reliability

• Work closely with Quality Assurance, Finance, Production, and R&D teams

• Ensure compliance with food safety standards and FSSAI regulations during procurement

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in purchasing processes and cost control

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or related fields

• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in food, FMCG, or manufacturing industries

• Strong negotiation, vendor management, and communication skills

• Hands-on experience with Tally ERP, SAP, MS Excel, and procurement systems

• Knowledge of food-grade materials, packaging standards, and sustainability practices

• Good understanding of GST, costing, budgeting, and inventory management

• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in food processing / ready-to-eat / ready-to-cook industries

• Exposure to export-oriented procurement and supplier compliance
