1️⃣ Job Title
Proposal Engineer – Industrial Automation / Flow Measurement (Pimpri MIDC, Pune)

2️⃣ About the Opportunity
You’ll join a proven industrial automation company that helps plants run safer and more efficiently through precise flow measurement and instrumentation solutions. Your work as a Proposal Engineer turns complex project enquiries into clear, accurate offers that win business and solve real process challenges for customers in sectors like chemicals, oil & gas, pharma and water treatment.

You’ll work closely with sales, design and execution teams in a focused, engineering‑driven environment where details matter, documentation is valued, and your proposals directly influence order wins and customer relationships. If you enjoy combining technical understanding with commercial thinking and structured documentation, this role will feel like a natural fit.

3️⃣ Your Mission – What You’ll Do

Your role is to own the proposal and techno‑commercial offer process for flow meters and related instrumentation projects. You will support the sales team so they can confidently go to market with competitive, accurate bids.

You will:

  • Analyse project enquiries and documentation (40%)

    • Study enquiry documents, data sheets, P&IDs, specifications and BOQs.

    • Identify technical scope, deviations, special requirements and clarifications.

    • Highlight risks and missing information to sales/engineering early so you avoid surprises later.

  • Prepare accurate techno‑commercial proposals (40%)

    • Select appropriate flow meter models and accessories based on process data.

    • Prepare technical offers, compliance statements and cost sheets.

    • Build complete quotations with pricing, delivery, commercial terms and exclusions clearly defined.

    • Ensure offers are both technically sound and commercially competitive.

  • Handle project‑related documentation and follow‑ups (15%)

    • Maintain systematic records of enquiries, offers, revisions and approvals.

    • Support sales in responding to client technical queries and tender clarifications.

    • Coordinate internally for approvals on pricing, terms and special conditions.

  • Support order handover and payment tracking (5%)

    • Prepare clear handover documents once an order is won.

    • Ensure key commercial terms and payment schedules are accurately captured.

    • Assist in basic record checks for advances / payment milestones as needed.

This role helps you sharpen your application knowledge, commercial thinking and documentation skills – a strong base for future moves into senior proposals, inside sales, or product management.

4️⃣ Requirements – What You Need to Bring

🟢 Must‑Have Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Instrumentation Engineering, or BSc/MSc Physics.

  • 5+ years’ experience in a proposal / application / techno‑commercial role for industrial instrumentation or similar projects.

  • Proven experience in:

    • Making proposals and quotations for instruments or engineered products.

    • Handling project enquiry documentation and tender packages.

    • Reviewing enquiry data sheets, specifications and special requirements.

🟢 Must‑Have Skills

  • Good understanding of flow meter technologies (e.g., electromagnetic, ultrasonic, coriolis, differential pressure, turbine), or strong willingness and ability to learn quickly.

  • Awareness of technical and commercial terminologies used in tenders and industrial contracts (e.g., Incoterms, payment terms, LD, warranty, FAT/SAT, inspection, BOQ, deviations).

  • Strong MS Office skills – especially Excel (costing sheets), Word (offers) and Outlook (client communication).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication – you can explain assumptions and deviations clearly and professionally.

  • High attention to detail, comfort with documentation, and habit of double‑checking numbers and specifications.

  • Self‑motivated, structured and able to manage multiple enquiries and deadlines at once.

🟡 Nice‑to‑Have / Added Advantage

  • Experience specifically with industrial automation / instrumentation / flow measurement proposals.

  • Exposure to EPCs, OEMs, and large project tenders.

  • Familiarity with any CRM / ERP systems for enquiry and quotation tracking.

👤 Ideal Candidate Persona
You enjoy working with documents, data and details. You like understanding the application, choosing the right solution, and putting together a proposal that “makes sense” technically and commercially. You are comfortable saying “no” or suggesting alternatives when specs or expectations are unrealistic, and you take pride in clean, complete, on‑time offers.
